One year after its release Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still worth playing

My ability to step outside and dig for fossils has been restored thanks to the melting snow

My ability to step outside and dig for fossils has been restored thanks to the melting snow. No longer do I need to bundle up in my winter coat and winter hat. It's T-shirt weather, and the arrival of spring has given my Animal Crossing: New Horizons island a new lease on life. Bugs are chirping, and there are more fish in the lakes and the sea. Even my adorable little animal neighbors appear to be more animated. However, the change in weather also serves as a reminder that I've been engaged in this game for an entire year. Seasons, holidays, wildlife, and even other players and villagers have come and gone during my time here. In some ways, animal crossing buy bells is a different game from the one that I began playing in 2020, and this is a good thing. However, for the most part, they are nearly identical. So what is it that I'm still doing?

When I wrote my original review of bells ACNH in March of last year, I'd played the game for approximately two weeks. The game was, even by the plodding standards of the Animal Crossing series, what I would call a slow burn. In addition, I stated that the pacing was "an acquired taste."It turns out that I was completely wrong, at least in terms of a certain segment of the audience who was able to manipulate the game to their advantage. With everyone cooped up inside, Animal Crossing Bells For Sale transformed into a binge-worthy experience, with everyone appearing to be racing against the clock to pay off their mortgage and "complete" the game as quickly as possible. The market for stalks exploded. It became acceptable to travel through time. There were a slew of talk shows and celebrity appearances that came and went throughout the year. As a result, a large number of players, or at least the majority of those I am familiar with, became burned out after a few weeks or months.

And there I was, plodding along in my own way. Having played Cheap ACNH Bells since its inception on the GameCube, I've always considered it to be more of a small diversion than a game to be conquered. I don't usually play for more than an hour at a time, but I do check in on a consistent basis. The early years were filled with company provided by friends, colleagues, and family members. We'd fight over resources and our arguments would spill over into real life at times. It's mostly just me and my animal companions these days.

However, even though a large portion of the audience appeared to have slowed down, Nintendo continued to update the game. The game has since been updated to include new features such as swimming (as well as deep-sea fishing), an art seller (along with the addition of a new museum wing), the ability to dream (and the ability to back up your save to the cloud), and holiday celebrations ranging from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve to a carnival. There have also been improvements to the overall quality of life, such as the recent expansion of the customization options.
